The Hidden Cost of Overwhelm: Why You Feel Drained (Even When You’re Doing Everything Right)
Overwhelm isn’t just about having too much to do.
It’s what happens when your mind and nervous system are trying to process too much, all at once.
The low energy and lack of motivation you’re feeling right now isn’t random.
It’s your body’s way of protecting you.
From constant input.
From emotional pressure.
From the never-ending mental load.
Years ago, when I decided to become a yoga instructor to deepen my holistic practice, I had no idea what I was truly stepping into.
My son was still young and needed care.
I lived in downtown Toronto, and my training program was a 90-minute commute away, on weekdays and weekends.
My marriage was strained.
And I was still managing clients in my business.
I was juggling so many roles that I put on emotional blinders just to get through it.
Sound familiar?
How many roles are you holding right now?
Work.
Family.
Yourself.
If you feel like you’re running on empty…
It’s because you are.
I was too.
I kept pushing through anxiety, frustration, and exhaustion, thinking I could outwork the stress.
But eventually, I hit a wall.
And if I could go back?
I wouldn’t just push harder.
I’d do things differently.
Because burnout doesn’t happen all at once…
It builds quietly, through how you think, what you focus on, and how you respond to stress.
In the next post (2 Simple Shifts to Calm Overwhelm and Restore Your Energy), I’ll show you the first shift that helps you interrupt the overwhelm cycle immediately.
Or, if you need a reset right now
